Spring's Tale End

I have been reading about machine vision and contour snakes to identify objects in images. Also distilling ideas about Constructivist art and OpArt, golemic constructs, as image rafts, and Polynesian stick maps that chart ocean wave swells. I have reincorporated (pun intended) my photographic distortion process using cosmic microwave imaging as a distortion field to present apophenic image potential. Layered on top are tracings from the Spring Pen Drawings, reminiscent of overhead maps of archeology sites, that have been colored to present gestalt groupings that were hinted at in the B&W line drawings.

Spring 2011 Technical Pen On Photopaper

In this series I have been thinking about how we cognitively recognize shapes through contours and color shapes. I have been reading articles about machine vision and contour snakes, that coincides with some work done during the past two years with some of the colored linear images. I am formulating in my own manner a thesis about the retina as a raft of information, as well as a cultural story about rafts of ideas.
